¿Listos? (Ready?)

Vamos a estudiar algunas palabras de pregunta en Español. (Let's study some question words in Spanish.) Thsi lesson is all about Spanish questions and how to ask them.

¿Qué? (What?)

- ¿Qué es esto? (What is this?)
- Esto es una bebida latinoamericana. (This is a latinoamerican drink.)

- ¿Qué día es hoy? (What day is it today?)
- Hoy es viernes. (Today is friday.)

¿Cómo? (How?)

- ¿Cómo está usted? (How are you?)
- Muy bien, gracias. (Very well, thank you.)

- ¿Cómo está la comida? (How is the food?)
- Muy buena, gracias. (Very good, thank you.)

¿Cuándo? (When?)

- ¿Cuándo llegó usted? (When did you arrive?)
- Yo llegué ayer (I arrived yesterday.)

- ¿Cuándo es su cumpleaños? (When is your birhtday?)
- Mi cumpleaños es mañana. (My birthday is tomorrow.)

¿De dónde? (Where from?)

- ¿De dónde es usted? (Where are you from?)
- Yo soy de Holanda. (I am from Holland.)

- ¿De dónde son ustedes? (Where are you from?)
- Nosotros somos de España. (We are from Spain.)

¿Dónde? (Where?)

- ¿Dónde está su hotel? (Where is your hotel?)
- My hotel está en la avenida Amazonas. (My hotel is in Amazonas avenue.)

- ¿Dónde vive su amigo?
- Mi amigo vive en la calle Pino. (My friend lives on Pino street.)

¿Cuántos / Cuántas? (How many?)

- ¿Cuántos años tienes? (How old are you? - How many years do you have?)
- Yo tengo treinta años. (I am thirty - I have thirty years.)

- ¿Cuántas maletas tienes? (How many suitcases do you have?)
- Yo solo tengo una. (I only have one.)

¿Cuánto? (How much?)

- ¿Cuánto cuesta esa botella de vino? (How much does that bottle of wine cost?)
- Esa botella de vino cuesta 22 dólares? (That bottle of wine cost 22 dollars.)

- ¿Cuánto cuesta el pasaje? (How much does the fare / ticket cost?)
- El pasaje cuesta dos dólares (The fare / ticket cost two dollars.)

¿De quién? (Whose?)

- De quién es esta mochila? (Whose backpack is this?)
- Esta mochila es mía (This backpack is mine.)

- De quién es ese suéter (Whose sweater is that?)
- Ese suéter es mío (That sweater is mine)

¿Cuál? (Which / what?)

- ¿Cuál es su carro? (Which is your car?)
- Mi carro es el rojo. (My car is the red one.)

- ¿Cuál es su nombre? (What is your name?)
- My name is Ana (Mi nombre es Ana.)

Note: To ask one's name we used "Cuál" insted of "Qué".
